Did you know that our leftover fabrics are reused to create new pieces full of personality?
What is it?
Upcycling is nothing more than a technique of reusing existing materials, transforming pieces that would otherwise be discarded in landfills and giving them new meaning. In other words, using something left over to create something new.
This trend emerged in the 1990s, but only now are we really paying more attention. One reason is that we're increasingly seeking sustainable alternatives.
And speaking of sustainable alternatives, it's worth mentioning that upcycling is a smart and profitable solution for brands and consumers, as what was once waste becomes a new, sellable item.
Furthermore, it fuels creativity and results in unique garments. Also directly linked to upcycling are the patchwork technique, which uses pieces of different fabrics together, and rework, which, as the name suggests, is a way of reworking a specific piece through customization.
